Review

Realeased in 1986 (superseeding the S612) the S900  was Akai's second sampler and is known as the first truly affordable digital sampler.
Unlike its predecessor it, the S612, it offered a built-in floppy disk dirve for storing samples using double density disks.
The S900's only real companion/upgrade option, the ME35T which allows you to trigger sounds with Linn-style pads ...

It offers 12bit stereo sampling/playback with 8 individual outs in addition to the standard stereo mix outs and a number of editing processes (looping, truncating, velocity crossfading, tuning).
The sampling is donen between 7.4 and 40kHz as selected by the user.

The S900 is still a very usefull sampler and still in use in studios around the world today, it does exactly what it was designed for... With the little help from a sequencer.

A Guy Called Gerald, The Bomb Squad, Dr. Dre,  Depeche Mode,  Digable Planets,
